The aperture lamp produces higher output than the standard phosphor-coated lamps due to the fact that emissions are reflected from the phosphor rather than transmitted from the phosphor.
The spectral output of the aperture lamp is both mercury wavelengths plus selected phosphor emission.
The aperture lamp has greater uniformity than the standard phosphor-coated lamp

Aperture lamps
|

Aperture phosphor-coated lamps produced
by Jelight Company, Inc. employ the same basic design as the Double-Bore®,
low-pressure mercury vapor lamps with the exception of a special
phosphor coating more than 70% of the diameter of the lighted length
of the lamp. Selected phosphors are used, which are excited by mercury
lines. Lamps can be produced with outputs ranging from approximately
280-1000 nm. The unique concept behind the aperture lamps is that
phosphor lines are detected from the reflections, therefore from
the same lamp there are complete low-pressure mercury and phosphor
lines.
Custom coating can be supplied to meet specific applications which
also includes the options of mixing two or more phosphors together.
Jelight Company, Inc. has perfected a special coating process which
provides excellent phosphor adhesion, light uniformity, and long
life.
Aperture phosphor coated lamps can be supplied with a black light
blue glass filter which eliminates visible light.
